    • The Falcons defense got off to a strong start in the 2011 preseason finale. On the Ravens first offensive possession, DE Kroy Biermann sacked QB Tyrod Taylor for a 10-yard loss. Two plays later, CB Brent Grimes intercepted Taylor at the Falcons 19-yard line.
    • In 2010, the Falcons totaled 31 sacks and outsacked their opponents by a 31-23 margin. Last season, Biermann posted three sacks including two in a Week 14 win over the Carolina Panthers.
    • Grimes intercepted a pass in three of the Falcons' four preseason games this season, including back-to-back games against Miami and Jacksonville. In 2010, he finished the season with five interceptions tying S William Moore for the team lead. Since 2009, Grimes' 11 interceptions rank tied for second in the NFL. Only Eagles CB Asante Samuel (16) has more picks in the last two seasons.
    • RB Antone Smith got the Birds on the scoreboard in the third quarter when he broke a 46-yard touchdown run and put Atlanta on top, 7-3. He finished the game with 11 carries for a game-high 114 yards and added a 42-yard reception. Smith, a second-year player out of Florida State, appeared in nine games in 2010, primarily on special teams.
    • Rookie CB Kamaal McIlwain recorded his first interception of the preseason when he picked off Ravens QB Hunter Cantwell and returned it 44-yards into Baltimore territory. In 2010, the Falcons notched 22 interceptions, which ranked fourth in the NFL. Atlanta picked off at least one pass in 13 games and recorded multiple INTs eight times.
    • Atlanta's defense was stout against Baltimore allowing just 175 total yards and holding the Ravens two just two third-down conversions on 14 tries. The Falcons also recorded two interceptions and sacked Ravens' signal callers three times.
  • Offensively, the Falcons racked up 343 yards of total offense, including 188 yards on the ground while averaging 5.9 yards per carry.
