Falcons at Buccaneers Postgame Breakdown

The Falcons defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 28-22, with a game-winning defensive touchdown on the first play of overtime at Raymond James Stadium to close out the 2019 season. Deion Jones' picked off Jameis Winston and ran it 27 yards to the end zone, marking the defense's first touchdown of the season.

The pick-six marked Jones' fourth of his career as he is the only player in the NFL with four interception touchdowns since 2016. The four-year pro was also involved in an earlier turnover on his first play of the game when Jacob Tuioti-Mariner forced a fumble of the Buccaneers' Ronald Jones that was recovered by Jones at Tampa Bay's 29. The turnover resulted in a 29-yard field goal by Younghoe Koo.

Koo, who joined the Atlanta Falcons during their bye in Week 9, finished the day 5-for-5 on field goals, the first time a Falcons kicker has made five field goals in a game since 2017. Since Week 10, Koo has made 23 field goals, converted two onside kicks and added 15 extra points, for 84 total points, the most by any kicker in that span.

Matt Ryan converted 30-of-51 passes for 313 yards, including one touchdown, for a 83.2 QB rating. On Atlanta's first possession, Ryan threw a 35-yard TD pass to Ty Sambrailo marking the 45th receiver the 12-year pro has thrown a TD pass to in his career. Sambrailo is the third offensive lineman in the NFL to record a TD catch this season and his 35-yard score is the longest touchdown reception by an offensive lineman since 1970. In 2019, Ryan finished the season with 11 300-yard games, tied for the third-most games in a single season in NFL history with Tom Brady (2011) and Jameis Winston (2019).

The Falcons had 30 carries for 87 yards. Devonta Freeman totaled 18 rushes for 58 yards and two catches for 15 yards. The sixth-year pro finished 2019 with 1,066 total yards, marking his fourth season with over 1,000 scrimmage yards. Since 2015, the Falcons are 23-0 when posting 30-or-more rushing attempts.

Ricardo Allen also intercepted Winston, marking his second interception of the season. In the second half of the season, the Falcons defense has totaled 10 interceptions, tied for the most in the NFL. Allen finished the day with three solo tackles and two passes defensed.

Other notables include Grady Jarrett getting a sack to finish the 2019 season with a career-high 7.5 sacks. Austin Hooper posted seven receptions for 45 yards, accomplishing all new season highs in receptions (75), yards (787) and touchdowns (6). Julio Jones registered seven catches for 78 yards and totaled 99 receptions for 1,394 yards in 2019. Russell Gage had seven receptions for 68 yards, his second-best single-game totals with the other also coming against the Buccaneers in November.
