Baker, Blalock Played Every Snap in 2012

The first play of the 2012 season came in Kansas City and it started on Atlanta's 20-yard line. It was a Michael Turner 6-yard gain off Garrett Reynolds' block at right guard. That was the first of 1,189 snaps on offense for the Falcons and the left side of Matt Ryan's protection on the offensive line played every one of them all the way through the playoffs.

Sam Baker, after battling injuries for the first four seasons of his career, showed how valuable he can be when he's healthy and able to go every Sunday. Blalock's snap count is a testament to his longevity with the Falcons. He started 14 of 16 games for the Falcons as a rookie in 2007 and since returning from his injury in the final two games of that season, he's started in every game of his career.

The defense saw 1,141 snaps this season and while there were a few players to play nearly every snap of every game, injuries slowed them down. Safety Thomas DeCoud came the closest and only missed one snap in the season on defense. The Pro Bowl safety stepped off the field for that one snap in Week 8 and played every down afterwards.

The other half of Atlanta's Pro Bowl safety tandem, William Moore suffered an injury in Week 13 and missed the remainder of the season but returned for the playoffs. Before sitting out the Week 14 game, Moore played every snap of the season. Chris Hope, the starter in place of Moore, played evey snap that week against Carolina.

Also of note: after playing sparingly to begin the season, an injury to Reynolds allowed 2011 second-round pick Peter Konz to assume the starting position at right guard. He stepped into the role in Week 8 and played every snap from there through the playoffs.
