Girls Flag Football Week 

February 15-21

We are celebrating the first-ever Atlanta Falcons Girls Flag Football Week from February 15-21. Follow along on Falcon Instagram, Falcons Twitter, Falcons Community Relations Instagram, and Falcons Community Relations Twitter as we honor the trailblazers of girls flag football all week long.

2026 Georgia High School Girls Flag Football Grant

In 2026, every accredited Georgia high school will be eligible to receive a grant from the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation, in partnership with the Atlanta Falcons, to either establish a girls flag football program ($10,000 if a program didn't exist in 2025) or support its existing program ($5,000 for the upcoming 2026 season).

The Atlanta Falcons, in partnership with the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation, have worked tirelessly to elevate girls flag football to become a sanctioned sport across the United States to promote gender equality in sports offered at the high school level.
In 2018, the Falcons launched a girls flag football pilot program in 19 high schools in Georgia's Gwinnett County. Following the success of the program, Georgia became the fourth state to sanction girls flag football as an official high school sport in 2020.

Given the enthusiasm and rapid growth of the game in Georgia, the Falcons used the same model to bring girls flag football to neighboring Alabama. In 2021, Alabama launched a pilot program for high schools and three years later became the eighth state to sanction girls flag football as an official high school sport.
In 2022, the Falcons expanded their efforts to Montana given Atlanta Falcons Owner and Chairman Arthur M. Blank's longstanding presence and love for The Treasure State, a place he considers his second home. In its first three years, the girls flag football pilot program in Montana grew by more than 500%.

This past year, more than 300 Georgia high schools offered girls flag football as an official sport for their student-athletes with the state championships taking place at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in December. More than 130 high schools in Alabama featured girls flag football programs, and 28 schools offered girls flag football as a high school sport in Montana.

Atlanta Falcons Girls Flag Football Clinic presented by Children's Healthcare of Atlanta

Calling all high school athletes! Participants in the clinic will learn from flag experts skills, drills, and the fundamentals of girls flag football. This event is FREE, but registration is required.

High School Girls Flag Football Showcase

Since 2021, Mercedes-Benz Stadium has hosted the NAIA/NJCAA Women's Flag Football National Championships. During the championships, the Falcons, in partnership with Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, have hosted a college showcase to provide high school girls flag football athletes exposure to play at the collegiate level with the potential for scholarship opportunities.

On Saturday, August 20, the Atlanta Falcons hosted a free girls flag football clinic in Missoula, Montana for the three high schools that are piloting girls high school flag football this season. Over 70 young women came out to participate in the NFL FLAG and Atlanta Falcons Legends led clinic!

In its first season as a sanctioned high school sport in the state of Georgia, the Atlanta Falcons hosted the Georgia High School Girls Flag Football Semi-Finals at The Home Depot Backyard. Eight high school girls flag football teams competed for a chance to continue to the state championship.

Georgia Girls Flag Football / House Resolution 347 Celebration

The Atlanta Falcons, GHSA and the Georgia House of Representatives hosted a press event at Mercedes-Benz Stadium to celebrate the growth of girls flag football in the state and the passage of House Resolution 347, a bipartisan Resolution which urges all Georgia high schools to establish girls flag football programs. The House Resolution, which passed unanimously, is the first piece of legislation related to girls flag football to be passed in the country.

Falcons pave path for Girl's Flag Football to become official sanctioned sport in Georgia

The Atlanta Falcons' strong commitment to growing the game of football has only intensified over the past several years. In an announcement made at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Wednesday, just prior to the Girls Flag Football Summit and championship games, Georgia will become the fourth state to make girls flag football an officially sanctioned high school sport in the state of Georgia.
