Weekly Coverage Recap: Falcons at Ravens

Saturday

Head coach Mike Smith spoke to the media Saturday about how players graded out after watching film from Thursday's preseason loss to Cincinnati. He pointed out that Robert Alford and Desmond Trufant, in particular, had solid games.

Cornerback Asante Samuel also pointed out Trufant and Alford's progress, saying the tough competition the two are in will only help them succeed later on and that he's made sure to help the two by giving them advice.

Sunday

Wide receiver Roddy White spoke to the media Sunday and said that given the amount of talent they have and the impressive rate the rookies have improved at so far, he's confident in this year's team.

Head coach Mike Smith once again stressed the importance of every player to play at their highest level as the preseason is all about the evaluation process, along with confirming that Julio Jones was back at full participation on Sunday.

Monday

Coach Smith gave updates on several players Monday, including an injury update on Sean Weatherspoon, who was dressed out but will likely not play Thursday's game against the Ravens, and Julio Jones, who had been back in full participation during practice the last two days.

Defensive end Osi Umenyiora said that he has noticed improvement throughout the team and that he looks forward to even more progress as the team heads into their second preseason game.

Tuesday

Smith said Tuesday that the team's starters would see more playing time at Thursday's game against the Ravens, but he wasn't disclosing how much more time.

Meanwhile, Steven Jackson commented on how he's learned to adapt to playing with the Falcons, a team he said he had always admired for their success.

Wednesday

Although the team had Wednesday off from practice, there was still plenty to talk about. Thursday
