FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. – Want to get to know Julio Jones off the football field?
Jones and two former Alabama players and current NFL players Eddie Jackson and Ryan Anderson star in a new video series called "Shop Talk" filmed at the University of Alabama. You can watch the full episode here.
In the first episode, Jones, Anderson and Jackson discuss a number of subjects including their time at Alabama and the influence of social media.
Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban joins the group conversation and also shares recruiting stories of Jones.
Jones was a five-star recruit out of Foley, Ala. and when he met with Saban in Tuscaloosa on a recruiting trip, Saban recalls being nervous.
Nick Saban, nervous? Can you imagine that?
But that's how badly he wanted Jones to join his team.
"The one thing I remember about his recruiting is we were sitting in my office and I was scared to death because we already had four receivers in his class and [he hadn't] decided where he was going to go," Saban said. "So I was like, I hope it doesn't affect you that we already have four receivers. And he looked at me and said, 'Coach, I don't care how many receivers you got.'
Jones has always said the reason he chose Alabama over other schools was because he knew Saban would challenge him in a way no one else could. He wouldn't be given anything, he would have to work for everything.
And that's exactly what Jones wanted because in his eyes, "cream rises to the top."
