Less than a week ago, Matthew Patterson's face didn't look like this.

Learning of the death of Prince while teaching a class, the Banneker High School teacher broke down in tears as he projected a video of the legendary musician on the wall for his class to see. One of his students took a video of Patterson's reaction and tweeted it from her account.

The video quickly went viral, earning more than 50,000 retweets in the hours following the announcement of Prince's death.

If you look closely at the video, we noticed something about Patterson that gave us an opportunity to make him smile. On his desk, you'll see a bright red cup with a Falcons logo on it.

Falcons head coach Dan Quinn, a huge Prince fan himself, gave a short tribute to the musician following his pre-draft press conference on Thursday, and when notified of Patterson's viral reaction, Quinn wrote a note to him and we sent him a little gift to cheer him up.

Quinn wrote: "Mr. Patterson - A fellow Prince fan! Hang in there. Rise Up. Dan Quinn."

Along with the note, Patterson was sent an autographed Matt Ryan football and judging from the photos he tweeted Tuesday, we were able to lift his spirits.
