Falcons Add Safety Johnson, Waive Nix-Jones

The Atlanta Falcons today announced that they have signed safety Tyrell Johnson and waived fullback Roosevelt Nix-Jones.

Johnson, 6-0, 207 pounds, was originally selected by the Minnesota Vikings in the second round (43rd overall) in the 2008 NFL Draft. He played four seasons with the Vikings before signing with the Detroit Lions on December 4, 2012 for the final four games of the season. In five NFL seasons, Johnson has played in 53 games with 23 starts and totaled 126 tackles (100 solo), two interceptions, and 10 passes defensed.

Nix-Jones, 5-11, 260 pounds, was signed by the Falcons as a college free agent on May 12, 2014 out of Kent State.
