Atlanta Falcons Cheerleaders final auditions wrapped up Thursday, and two-year team veteran Sara D. went through the grueling days that led her to earning a spot on the roster for the 2011 season. Anticipation. Anxiousness. Elation.

I arrived at finals Thursday a complete wreck. I get so nervous for auditions, it doesn't matter how many times I've gone through the process. I had even met with Denita C.and Margaret M.earlier in the day to run through the dance, and I knew I had prepared the best that I could.

It was finally go time.

I signed in and received my number (50), and began stretching and mentally preparing for what was to come. I wanted and waited for what seemed like an eternity, and then … time to dance!

It came and went in a flash, and I was proud to walk out of the room knowing that I had done the very best that I could. I knew in my heart that I put 110 percent into everything during auditions week, and at this point it was out of my hands.

My heart started to pound when we were called back in to announce who had made the team.

I heard a few names … my hands started shaking … and then … my name!

I cannot even being to describe the sense of relief and joy I felt as I ran up to get my welcome bag and give cheerleader coordinators Chato Waters and Jakene Ashford, and my teammates, who had already been called, a hug. I'm so thankful, blessed and proud to be back for a third season with the Atlanta Falcons Cheerleaders!

This year, there are 40 cheerleaders that will be gracing the sidelines of the Georgia Dome instead of the usual 32! This is very exciting, and I absolutely cannot wait to see what 2011 has in store for us!

I am anxious and ready to get to know the new rookies, excited to step back into my role as a veteran and ready to step up and help wherever I can.

This is it, Falcons Fans! The beginning of the new year for AFC, and I'm so glad you could join me on my journey to make it back on the team! I hope to take you inside the rest of our year so you can get an inside look at what we do when we're not on the field. The future for AFC and the Atlanta Falcons organization is bright!

Thank you for the support, love, and encouragement — I certainly hope you know how much it means to not only me, but all of the girls on AFC. Get ready, the Fabulous Forty ladies of the New South are coming your way, and we can't wait to meet you!

As always, you can catch up with me on Twitter @AFCSara or find me on Facebook

Cheers!

Sara D.
