Game Notes: Falcons vs. Redskins

The Atlanta Falcons offense finished the day with 418 total yards. This is the third time this season the Falcons offense has finished the game with at least 400 total yards. QB Matt Ryan finished the day 24-of-42 for 254 yards, moving his streak of games with at least 250 passing yards to 12, which is the longest streak in the League. * RB Devonta Freeman had a career-high 153 rushing yards and one touchdown. Freeman also added 44 yards on seven receptions. This is the third straight game Freeman has recorded over 100 total yards – 197 today, which is also a career-high. * With Freeman's rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter, he became the first player with eight or more rushing touchdowns in a team's first five games of a season since LaDainian Tomlinson (9) and Shaun Alexander (8) in 2005. * The Falcons 176 rushing yards were the highest rushing total the offense has recorded since Week 17 of 2011 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (251 rushing yards). * TE Jacob Tamme recorded eight catches for 94 yards; both were career highs for him in a Falcons uniform. * WR Julio Jones scored the first non-receiving touchdown of his career when he recovered a fumble in the end zone in the fourth quarter. Jones finished the day with five receptions for 67 yards. * The Falcons defense held the League's top ranked rushing offense to just 51 yards on the ground. Additionally, Atlanta allowed a season low 219 passing yards and held QB Kirk Cousins to a 69.7 passer rating. * For the third time this year, the defense held a running back that ran for over 1,000 yards in 2014 to 15-or-fewer yards in the game. RB Alfred Morris finished the 2014 season with 1,074 yards, and the defense held him to just 15 yards on eight carries on the day. * LB Nate Stupar recorded the Falcons only sack of the game, dropping Cousins in the first quarter. The sack was Stupar's first sack of the season, and the first of his career.  * For the second time in Robert Alford's career, he recorded two interceptions in a game. Alford's second interception came in overtime, which he returned 59 yards for the first touchdown of his career. Alford's last multi-interception game came against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 7 in 2014. * This is the second game in a row the Falcons have scored a defensive touchdown. Since 2008 the Falcons are 16-4 when scoring a defensive touchdown, including a 9-3 mark when recording a pick six. * Matt Bryant connected on two field goals on the day, including a 42-yard field goal to open up the scoring for the Falcons in the second quarter. The 42-yard field goal was Bryant's fifth field goal over 40 yards on the season. * HC Dan Quinn is the only rookie head coach in Falcons history to start off 5-0.
