From Falcons Owner and Chairman Arthur Blank:
Bud Adams was an innovator, a great businessman, and a valuable contributor and leader in the NFL.
Bud possessed the foresight of what professional football could become in America, as in 1960 he and Lamar Hunt dared to form the American Football League, which competed with the NFL. The success of the AFL spurred the merger of the two leagues in 1970; this pivotal time in NFL history undoubtedly contributed to the strength and popularity of the NFL game and brand we enjoy today.
Anyone who has ever enjoyed the experience of NFL football – fans, sponsors, business partners, players, coaches, club staff and club owners – owes Bud Adams a tremendous debt of gratitude today.
On behalf of the entire Falcons organization, we extend our deepest sympathy and prayers to Bud's family and to the Titans organization.
