Biography

CAREER

  • Has appeared in 150 regular-season games (145 starts), completing 3,465-of-5,177 passes (66.9 percent), for 39,471 yards, 270 passing touchdowns and 110 interceptions for a passer rating of 98.2. He has also totaled 304 carries for 958 rushing yards and 19 rushing touchdowns over 12 seasons (2012-23) for the Commanders and Vikings.
  • In the postseason, he has appeared in five games (four starts), completing 103-of-155 passes (66.5 percent) for 1,047 yards, five passing touchdowns and one interception for the Commanders and Vikings.

Minnesota Vikings

  • In 2023, started eight games he appeared in for the Vikings and completed 216-of-311 passes (69.5 percent) for 2,331 yards, 18 passing touchdowns and five interceptions for a 103.8 passer rating before suffering a season-ending injury.
  • Started all 17 games in 2022 and completed 424-of-643 passes (65.9 percent) for 4,547 yards, 29 passing touchdowns and 14 interceptions for a 92.5 passer rating.
  • Set Vikings records for passing attempts (643) and passing first downs (230). Also totaled the second-most completions (424) and passing yards (4,547) in club history.
  • Registered a career-high eight game-winning drives the most in the NFL in 2022 and tied with Matthew Stafford (2016) for the most in a single season in NFL history.
  • Led the largest comeback in NFL history vs. Indianapolis (Week 15, 2022), overcoming a 33-point deficit to beat the Colts 39-36 in overtime.

  • Started all 16 games in 2020 and completed 349-of-516 passes (67.6 percent) for 4,265 yards, 35 passing touchdowns and 13 interceptions for a 105.0 passer rating, the second-highest rating in his career.
  • Started 15 games in 2019, completing 307-of-444 passes (69.1 percent) for 3,603 yards, 26 passing touchdowns and six interceptions for a passer rating of 107.4.
  • His 107.4 passer rating marked a personal best and established the second-best single-season mark in Vikings history.
  • Earned his first career postseason victory in the overtime Wild Card win over New Orleans (Jan. 5, 2020), becoming the eighth quarterback in Vikings history to win his first start in the playoffs. Finished the game 19-of-31 for 242 yards, one touchdown and a 96.4 passer rating.
  • In 2018, started all 16 games in his debut season as a Viking, completing a career best 425-of-660 passes (70.1 percent) for 4,298 yards, 30 passing touchdowns and 10 interceptions for a 99.7 passer rating.

Washington Commanders

  • Started all 16 games in 2017, completing 347-of-540 passes (64.3 percent) for 4,093 yards and 27 touchdowns and 13 interceptions for a passer rating of 93.9.
  • Led Washington in rushing TDs (4) for the second time in his career (five in 2015), becoming the first Washington quarterback to lead the team in rushing touchdowns in multiple seasons since Norm Snead tied for the team lead in 1961 and 1962.
  • In 2016, completed 406-of-606 passes (67.0 percent) for a career-high 4,917 yards, 25 passing touchdowns and 12 interceptions for a 97.2 passer rating. His 4,917 passing yards ranked third in the NFL that season.
  • Started his first postseason game in 2016 and completed 29-of-46 passes (63.0 percent) for 329 yards, one passing touchdown and no interceptions for a passer rating of 91.6.
  • Started 16 games in 2015, finishing the season completing 379-of-543 passes (69.8 percent) for 4,166 yards, 29 passing touchdowns and 11 interceptions for a passer rating of 101.6.
  • Appeared in six games (five starts) in 2014 and totaled 1,710 yards, 10 passing touchdowns and nine interceptions on 126-of-204 attempts (61.8 percent) for an 86.4 rating.
  • Played in five games (three starts) and completed 81-of-155 passes (52.3 percent) for 854 yards, seven interceptions and four passing touchdowns for a passer rating of 58.4 in 2013.
  • In 2012, he played three regular-season games, completing 33-of-48 passes (68.8 percent) for 466 yards, four passing touchdowns and three interceptions for a passer rating of 101.6. Also saw action in one postseason game.

  • Earned Academic All-Big Ten Conference honors all four seasons.
  • Finished his career as MSU's all-time record holder in passing yards (9,131), total offense (9,004 yards), completions (723), passing touchdowns (66), 200-yard passing games (26) and passing efficiency (146.1 rating).
  • Was one of seven players in school history to complete at least 60 percent of his passes for MSU, as his pass completion percentage of 64.1 was second in school history and tied for seventh in Big Ten history.
