Biography

Matt Jones was named the Falcons assistant offensive line coach on Feb. 6, 2026.

Jones comes to Atlanta after working with the Tennessee Titans for the previous three seasons (2023-25) as an offensive assistant (2024-25) and offensive line assistant (2023).

In 2025, he guided a unit that opened holes for running back Tony Pollard to set a career-high in rushing yards (1,082), with Pollard surpassing the 1,000-yard threshold in all three seasons with Jones on staff. He also contributed to a staff that helped develop Titans 2024 first-round pick tackle JC Latham, who started all 17 games at left tackle. Second-year left guard and 2023 first-round pick Peter Skoronski also started every game, while right guard Dillon Radunz established a career high with 15 starts.

In 2023, Jones worked with an offensive line that helped running back Derrick Henry to rank second in the NFL with 1,167 rushing yards, resulting in his second consecutive Pro Bowl appearance. The Titans used 11 different starting offensive line combinations over 17 total games.

Prior to working in the NFL, Jones spent four seasons (2019-22) at the University of Tennessee-Martin as offensive line and tight ends coach (2019) and run game coordinator/offensive line and tight ends coach (2020-22). Before his time at UT Martin, Jones was the offensive line coach at Texas Southern for two seasons (2017-18) and at Jackson State for one season (2016).

Jones' career in football began as a student assistant at his alma mater, Eastern Illinois, and one season at Lincoln-Way Central High School in New Lenox, Ill. (2008). He then spent 2009 and 2010 coaching the offensive line and tight ends at University of Saint Francis (Ill.) before spending two seasons (2011-12) as the offensive line coach and run game coordinator at Avila University. In 2013, he worked with the tight ends at Villanova, followed by a two-year stint as a graduate assistant at Tulane (2014-15).

A native of Chicago, Ill., Jones earned a bachelor's degree from Eastern Illinois University in 2008 and a master's degree from Tulane University in 2015. He and his wife, Becky, have one son, AJ.
