Biography

Chase Blackburn was named assistant special teams coach on Feb. 12, 2026.

Blackburn spent the last three seasons (2023-25) as the special teams coordinator with the Los Angeles Rams. In 2024, Blackburn led a special teams unit that recorded four blocked kicks, which tied for the league lead. Prior to his time with the Rams, he spent one season with the Tennessee Titans as a special teams assistant (2022). Blackburn made his NFL coaching debut with the Carolina Panthers and served as a special teams assistant coach (2016-17) before being promoted to special teams coordinator, a role he held for four seasons (2018-21).

Prior to his coaching career, Blackburn spent 10 seasons as a linebacker in the NFL, including eight with the New York Giants (2005-12) and two with the Carolina Panthers (2013-14). He appeared in 132 career games (45 starts) after entering the league as an undrafted free agent in 2005. Blackburn became a Super Bowl XLVI champion when the Giants defeated the New England Patriots in 2011.

Blackburn attended Marysville (Ohio) High School and graduated from Akron with a degree in mathematics.
