Falcons sign 2 defensive players to practice squad

Atlanta brings Ronnie Perkins and Simeon Barrow Jr. back into the fold through practice squad.

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — The Atlanta Falcons filled out their practice squad Tuesday. They did so by bringing back edge rusher Ronnie Perkins and defensive lineman Simeon Barrow Jr.

Perkins signed with the team during training camp. Barrow signed in the offseason as an undrafted free agent.

Since Atlanta only had one spot remaining, it released offensive tackle Brandon Parker to allow these two signings.

Here is a full view of the Falcons' 17-man practice squad, including international player Lenny Krieg.

Perkins saw action off the edge in the Falcons' third and final preseason game. He had three combined tackles on 34 defensive snaps, which was 55% of the unit's work.

A third-round draft pick for the New England Patriots in 2021, Perkins made his debut in 2023 with the Denver Broncos; he appeared in seven games and made 13 tackles with a quarterback hit.

Perkins spent a month on injured reserve last season before the Broncos released him. He later wound up on the Arizona Cardinals' practice squad.

Earlier this year, Perkins played for the UFL's Birmingham Stallions. He appeared in five games, making 17 tackles and 3.5 sacks.

Barrow, meanwhile, played in all three of the Falcons' preseason games, recording a sack, a forced fumble and two tackles. Barrow saw the most time in the third and final preseason game, with 29 defensive snaps, which was 47% of the unit's work. That's when he recorded the sack and forced fumble, too.

Since Barrow is a rookie, he does not have any prior NFL experience.
