Originally selected by the Houston Texans in the second round (42nd overall) of the 2011 NFL Draft out of Arizona. Signed by the Atlanta Falcons as a free agent on March 10, 2014.

2015 (Falcons)

Played in 13 games with five starts while posting 13 tackles (seven solo). Helped set the edge for a defense that allowed 105 rushing yards per game.
Made his Falcons debut, starting at linebacker and posting a pair of tackles and one tackle for loss against Houston (10/4). Saw action at linebacker against Washington (10/11). Helped the Falcons defense hold the Redskins to 51 rushing yards and 2.1 yards per carry. Started at linebacker and posted two tackles at New Orleans (10/15). Helped the Falcons hold the Saints to 2.5 yards per carry and 81 rushing yards. Started at linebacker and posted one tackle against Indianapolis (11/22). Snagged his first career interception at Oakland (9/14), picking off QB Derek Carr.
Started all 16 games at strong side linebacker for the first time in his career and totaled career-highs with 87 tackles (48 solo) and nine tackles for loss to go along with six quarterback hits and three sacks in 2013. Started in all 12 games he played and recorded 42 tackles (23 solo), 2.5 sacks and a forced fumble in 2012. Earned first-team All-Pac-10 honors after starting all 13 games in his senior season with the Wildcats, tallying a career-best 47 tackles, 6.5 sacks and 10 tackles for loss along with two passes defensed and one forced fumble. Started 8-of-10 games in 2009, recording 23 tackles (19 solo), 2.0 sacks, contributing to a defensive unit that ranked fourth in the Pac 10 and 29th nationally in yards per game allowed (120.5).
Enjoyed a breakout season as a sophomore in 2008 when he started all 13 games at defensive end and garnered an All-Pac-10 honorable mention, as he delivered 38 tackles (26 solos) with 9.5 stops for losses for 59 yards and a team-high eight sacks for 57 yards and added three forced fumbles, a quarterback hurry and two pass deflections. Switched to defensive end in 2007 after opening the season contending for H-back duty and saw action in the final nine games of the season as a backup defensive end and on special teams and delivered seven tackles (four solos) with one assisted sack for five yards.

Personal

Attended Sabino High School (Tucson, Ariz.), playing football for head coach Jay Campos. Helped the Sabercats to an 8-3 record as a junior in 2004 and earned first-team all-league, honorable mention all-state and Arizona Daily Star All-Southern Arizona honorable mention as a junior while rushing for 350 yards and seven touchdowns. Led the Sabercats to a 10-4 overall record as a senior in 2005 and earned Tucson Citizen first-team All-3A-4A and Arizona Daily Star first-team All-Southern Arizona while posting 38 tackles and three sacks from the defensive line as a senior.
