Falcons sign DE Kenny Oginni, release OT Ryan Swoboda

Defensive end Kenny Oginni has been designated as the Falcons’ international player for the 2024 season and will not count toward the 90-man offseason roster limit.

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — The Atlanta Falcons signed defensive end Kenny Oginni, the team announced Thursday.

Originally from Nigeria, Oginni has been designated as the Falcons' international player for the 2024 season. This means he will not count toward the 90-man offseason roster limit.

The first time Oginni ever did anything football related was at a camp in 2014 sponsored by defensive end Osi Umenyiora, who played for the New York Giants from 2003-12 and the Falcons from 2013-14. Oginni has since participated in NFL-sanctioned events, such as an International Player's Combine and the International Player Pathway program. In 2022, he was signed by the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent but did not make final roster cuts.

Oginni has yet to play in a professional game.

The Falcons also announced the release of Ryan Swoboda on Thursday. The offensive tackle was signed to a reserve/future contract back in January.
