Falcons Add Linebackers to Roster

The Atlanta Falcons today announced that they have signed linebacker Jamar Chaney and linebacker Omar Gaither. The Falcons also signed fullback Patrick DiMarco to the active roster and signed linebacker Chase Thomas to the practice squad.

Chaney, 6-0, 242 pounds, was originally selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in the seventh round (220th overall) of the 2010 NFL Draft out of Mississippi State. He played in 44 games with 23 starts over three seasons with the Eagles and recorded 161 tackles (124 solo) with 11 passes defensed, three interceptions, one sack, and one forced fumble.

Gaither, 6-2, 235 pounds, was originally selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in the fifth round (168th overall) of the 2006 NFL Draft out of Tennessee. He spent five seasons in Philadelphia before signing with the Carolina Panthers in 2011 and the Oakland Raiders in 2012. Gaither has totaled 413 tackles (264 solo) with 25 passes defensed, six sacks, two interceptions, two fumble recoveries, and one forced fumble in seven NFL seasons. In 2012, Gaither played in seven games for the Raiders with four starts and totaled 20 tackles (10 solo).

DiMarco, 6-1, 197 pounds, was originally signed by the San Diego Chargers as a college free agent out of South Carolina following the 2011 NFL Draft. He played in five games with four starts at fullback as a member of the Kansas City Chiefs in 2012.

Thomas, 6-3, 241 pounds, was originally signed by the New Orleans Saints as a college free agent out of Stanford following the 2013 NFL Draft. He spent time in training camp with the Saints and Oakland Raiders. Thomas recorded 71 tackles (43 solo) with 14.5 tackles for loss as a fifth-year senior for the Cardinal.
