Shepley Heard is entering his 16th season with the Falcons and his second season as Director of Pro Personnel. His primary duties in Pro Personnel include helping manage the Falcons roster by recommending player acquisitions from other professional football leagues and street free agents, coordinating offseason free agency and monitoring the waiver wire.
Before the 2019 season, he spent the previous six seasons as a Regional Scout, covering the East and the West regions for three years each. Heard served as an Area Scout from the spring of 2008 through the 2012 season and covered a broad range of states throughout the country during that time.
Prior to his move into college scouting, Shepley served as the teams Pro Scout from the spring of 2006 to 2008, he was responsible for advance scouting the Falcons upcoming opponents and evaluating free agents and potential cuts in the preseason. He got his start with the Falcons as a Scouting Assistant in 2005.
Before being hired in Atlanta, Shepley spent two seasons at Texas A&M University and held roles as a Defensive Graduate Assistant coach and Defensive Quality Control. He played Safety at the University of Central Oklahoma from 1997 to 2001 and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in the spring of 2002. He is originally from Muskogee, Oklahoma.
