Michael Gray

Biography

Michael Gray was hired by the Atlanta Falcons as a football analyst on Feb. 27, 2023. 

Gray came to Atlanta after spending three seasons (2020-22) as co-special teams coordinator/linebackers coach at Gardner-Webb University. Under Gray's tutelage, junior linebacker William McRainey finished with a team-leading 104 total tackles, nine tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks and one interception in 13 games in 2022. The season prior, McRainey led the conference in tackles and earned first-team All-Big South Conference honors. 

Before joining Gardner-Webb's staff, Gray spent two seasons (2018-19) as a graduate assistant at North Carolina State University. During his time with the Wolfpack, he was part of a staff that helped the 2018 team to a 9-4 record and an appearance in the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl. The season prior, Gray served as a defensive intern at Western Kentucky. 

Gray played collegiately at Mercer University, finishing his career with 180 total tackles, 10 tackles for loss, three sacks and three interceptions. The Jacksonville, Fla., native played both linebacker and safety during his time with the Bears.
