Biography
Matt Baker was hired by the Atlanta Falcons as special teams assistant on Feb. 27, 2023.
Baker came to Atlanta after spending three seasons (2020-22) at John Carroll University in Ohio. Baker joined the Blue Streaks' staff as quarterbacks coach in 2020 before adding offensive coordinator to his title in 2022. In 2022 under Baker, the Blue Streaks offense averaged 38.0 points and 426.4 yards per game, finishing second in the Ohio Athletic Conference with an 8-1 record in league play.
Prior to John Carroll, Baker spent one season at Western Michigan as a quality control coordinator, coaching quarterbacks in 2019. He also served as a graduate assistant for two seasons (2010-11) at the University of Mississippi, coaching wide receivers and quarterbacks. From 2011-18, Baker stepped away from coaching to explore management roles in the energy business.
As a player, Baker spent four years as a quarterback in the NFL, spending time with the Cowboys, Saints, Dolphins and Bills. The Rochester Hills, Mich., native graduated from the University of North Carolina in 2006 where he played quarterback.
