Biography

The Falcons have hired Joe Whitt Jr. as the team's secondary coach/defensive pass game coordinator on January 9, 2020.

 Whitt returns to Atlanta and brings 13 years of NFL coach experience with him. This past season, he was the pass game coordinator/secondary coach in Cleveland where his unit was a top-10 defense against the pass allowing 216.9 yards per game (seventh). The Browns' defense totaled 14 interceptions, tied for eighth in the NFL. Whitt oversaw second-year cornerback Denzel Ward. According to Pro Football Focus, Ward allowed a 44.9 reception percentage and just one touchdown while quarterbacks posted a 58.0 passer rating when targeting him.
