FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. – The Atlanta Falcons announced a flurry of moves on Friday, following their preseason opener. Among those moves are the signings of former Colts safety Ronald Martin and former Boston College cornerback Hamp Cheevers.

Martin, 26, originally signed with the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent in 2015. He spent the 2015 and 2016 seasons with the Jets, playing in a total of 11 games for New York in that time. Most recently, Martin spent the 2017 season with the Colts, appearing in two games. Last preseason, Martin suffered a shoulder injury that landed him on injured reserve for the duration of the season.

Cheevers signed this offseason with the Titans as an undrafted free agent out of Boston College. He was waived/injured by the team following rookie minicamp this spring. During his final season in college Cheevers became a very important part of Boston College's defense. A first-team All-ACC selection in 2018, Cheevers' seven interceptions were tied for tops in the FBS.

In addition to those two signings, the Falcons have also announced the release of longsnapper Kyle Vasey, safety Jason Thompson and defensive back Rashard Causey. Atlanta still has one roster spot open on its 90-man roster.
