Falcons Trim Roster to 75 Players

The Falcons have trimmed the roster to the mandatory 75 players before heading into the final preseason game by waiving eight players and releasing one: safety Sergio Brown (released), offensive lineman Michael Huey, running back Gus Johnson, wide receiver Jordan Leslie, tight end Arthur Lynch, linebacker Ivan McLennan, quarterback Sean Renfree, cornerback Ryan White, and defensive lineman Brandon Williams.

Brown was originally signed by the New England Patriots following the 2010 NFL Draft out of Notre Dame. He saw action in 26 games with the Patriots, before being signed by the Indianapolis Colts in 2012 where he spent two years, recording 39 total tackles in 45 games. Brown's last stop was in Jacksonville where he played in 15 games for the Jaguars last season, recording 29 total tackles.

Huey was originally signed by the Seattle Seahawks in 2011. He also spent time with the Chargers and Redskins. Huey played for the Arizona Rattlers in the Arena Football League and was a three-time AFL champion and was three-time All-Arena League.

Johnson was originally signed by the Dallas Cowboys on July 28, 2015. He was then signed to the Cowboys practice squad on September 8, 2015. Johnson also spent part of the 2015 season as a member of the Falcons practice squad.

Leslie was originally signed by the Minnesota Vikings as a college free agent following the 2015 NFL Draft. He spent the 2015 season as a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars and Falcons practice squad.

Lynch was drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the fifth round (155th overall) of the 2014 NFL Draft by the Miami Dolphins out of Georgia. Last season, he was signed to the Denver Broncos practice squad.

McLennan was signed by the Falcons as a college free agent following the draft out of Washington State. McLennan played in all 13 games, starting 10 as a red shirt senior in 2015. He totaled 42 tackles, 9.0 tackles for-loss and 6.0 sacks, along with two pass breakups.

Renfree was selected as the third of three seventh round (249th overall) draft choices by Atlanta in 2013. He played in two games last season, completing three of seven pass attempts (42.9 percent) for 11 yards. Renfree has spent the past three seasons with the team, including two as a member of the 53-man active roster.

White was originally signed by the Green Bay Packers after the 2014 NFL Draft out of Auburn.

Williams was signed by the Falcons following the draft out of Southern Illinois. He played in 43 games for Salukis and posted 101 total tackles, 9.5 sacks, 18 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.

The roster now stands at 75 men heading into the final preseason game versus the Jacksonville Jaguars.
