A Look Ahead: Day 10

Each day of 2012 Russell Athletic Atlanta Falcons Training Camp, we'll take a look ahead at the day of practices and break down the storylines and things you need to know as a fan, including position battles, players to keep an eye on and information on what the Falcons are up to.

Here are today's top things to keep an eye on:

    • The Falcons continue 2012 camp with an afternoon practice session, scheduled to run from 3:30-5:50 p.m. The session is open to the public.
    • The Falcons are facing a challenging week. Coming off of Friday Night Lights in Suwanee, the Falcons practice today in Flowery Branch, then travel to Dalton, Ga., on Monday for Football Night in Dalton, which is a combined practice with the Tennessee Titans, and then turn around and play their first preseason game at the Georgia Dome on Thursday against the Baltimore Ravens. There's no rest for the weary, but it might be a good bet to think head coach Mike Smith will take it easy on the team during today's practice.
    • Two players separated themselves from the pack during the 20-minute live-hitting team period Friday. Undrafted rookie wide receiver Michael Calvin made one spectacular catch down the sideline that had fans and teammates alike cheering. On the other side of the ball, defensive end Lawrence Sidbury's name was called quite often, racking up two sacks and a tackle during the period's first five plays.
  • In the event of inclement weather, that forces the team to move to the indoor facility during a practice session open to the public, the Falcons don't have the ability to safely accommodate fans inside. Therefore, practice will close for the day. For up-to-the-minute information on weather issues that could interrupt practice:
