2013 (Falcons)

Played in 14 games with one start during his rookie campaign. Tallied 12 tackles (10 solo) while adding two fumble recoveries, and one tackle for loss. Made his NFL debut in the season opener at New Orleans posting one tackle (one solo). Notched four tackles (three solo) with two quarterback hits against QB Mike Glennon and one big hit against Tampa Bay (10/20). Notched his first career fumble recovery at Green Bay (12/8). Scooped up a loose ball at the Packers 13-yard line to set up a short field. Recovered an RB Alfred Morris at the Falcons 24-yard line, and returned it 13 yards to set up a short field against the Redskins (12/15).

College

Started 28 of 54 career games at Clemson, including each of his final 27 appearances, recording 127 tackles (70 solo) with 23 tackles for loss, 12 sacks, three passes defensed and one fumble recovery. His eight forced fumbles fell two shy of the Tigers record of 10 shared by Jeff Davis (1978-81) and Ed McDaniel (1988-91). As a senior in 2012, received All-Atlantic Coast Conference honorable mention from the league’s coaches and media, and was named Clemson’s defensive player of the game in the Tigers Chick-fil-A Bowl win over LSU notching three sacks. Finished his senior season with 20 tackles (11 solo), 9.5 sacks, seven tackles for loss, four forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery. In 2011, he set a school record for defensive linemen with 767 defensive snaps. Goodman recorded a career-high 49 tackles (25 solo) with four tackles for loss and two sacks. As a sophomore in 2010, was the recipient of the team’s Future Impact Player Award after recording 32 tackles (17 solo) with 3.5 tackles for loss, three fumble recoveries, and one sack. Was named Co-Defensive-Rookie-of-the-Year and a first-team freshman All-ACC selection in 2009 after posting 26 tackles (17 solo), six tackles for loss, and two sacks.

Personal

Attended Florence (S.C.) High School where he was a Parade and EA Sports All-America selection. Rated as the nation’s 36th-best overall prospect by Rivals.com, the 10th-best defensive end in America by ESPN.com and the 11th-best defensive end in the prep ranks Scout.com. Regarded as the best player in the state of South Carolina, according to Rivals.com, as that recruiting service also rated him the fifth-best defensive end in the country…Finalist for “Mr. Football” honors. Added All-Conference and All-State accolades as a senior…Was also a Parade and EA Sports All-American selection in 2008... recorded 73 tackles that included 15 sacks and 27 stops behind the line of scrimmage as a senior. Was one of just two South Carolina prep players to compete at the U.S. Army All-American Game and also participated in the Shrine Bowl. Graduated on December 20th, 2012 with a degree in Sociology.
