2013 (Falcons)

Started all 16 games at left guard and blocked for an offense that averaged 343.1 total yards per game in 2013, including 283.8 passing yards per game, which was the second-highest average in club history. Started at left guard and blocked for RB Steven Jackson, who gained 77 yards on 11 carries and protected QB Matt Ryan as he completed 25 of 38 passes for 304 yards at New Orleans (9/8). Protected QB Matt Ryan who threw for a career-high 421 total passing yards with two touchdowns against New England (9/29). Protected QB Matt Ryan who threw for 301 yards and one touchdown at Arizona (10/27). Started all 16 games at left guard and helped pave the way for RB Michael Turner to set a franchise record with 60 career total touchdowns. Part of an offensive line that produced a 300-yard passer (Ryan), a 100-yard rusher (Michael Turner), and two 100-yard receivers (Julio Jones & Roddy White) in a win over Dallas (11/4/12), which was the third time in franchise history the Falcons have accomplished that feat. Blocked for RB Michael Turner who recorded his franchise record 27th 100-yard game as a Falcon against Dallas (11/4/12). In 2012, was part of an offensive line that helped the Falcons rank sixth in passing offense (281.8), seventh in points per game (26.2), and eighth in total offense (369.1). Cleared rushing lanes for RB Michael Turner and RB Jacquizz Rodgers during the 2012 season as the duo combined for 1,162 rushing yards with 10 touchdowns on the ground. Member of the Longhorns National Championship team of 2006. Earned All-Big 12 Conference first-team honors from the Associated Press as a junior. Named first-team Freshman All-America by the Football Writers Association of America and Sporting News after his freshman redshirt season.

Personal

Three-year starter at offensive guard and earned first-team All-America honors from USA Today as a senior, and was also a first-team All-State Class 5A, all-area and all-district selection. One of five finalists for the 2002 Watkins Award, which is presented to the nation’s top African-American high school scholar-athlete.
