2012 (FALCONS)

Played in all 16 games, including 10 starts at right guard during his rookie season, paving the way a Falcons offense that racked up 5,906 total net yards in 2012, the second highest total in a single season in franchise history. Part of an offensive line that allowed QB Matt Ryan to set franchise records for attempts, completions, completion percentage, yards, and touchdowns during the 2012 season. Part of an offensive line that produced 300-yard passer (Ryan), a 100-yard rusher (Michael Turner), and two 100-yard receivers (Julio Jones & Roddy White) in a win over Dallas (11/4) which was the third time in franchise history the Falcons have accomplished that feat. Helped anchor an offensive line that allowed 28 sacks, which ranked tied for seventh in the NFL. Protected Ryan as he threw for a career-high 411 yards at New Orleans (11/11). Ryan's 411 gross passing yards were the third most in a single game in franchise history. Part of an offensive line that helped the Falcons rank sixth in passing offense (281.8), seventh in points per game (26.2), and eighth in total offense (369.1). Cleared rushing lanes for RB Michael Turner and RB Jacquizz Rodgers as the duo combined for 1,162 rushing yards with 10 touchdowns on the ground. Additionally the Falcons were one of four NFL teams to boast two backs with 750+ yards from scrimmage. Made his first career start at guard at Philadelphia (10/28). Blocked for a Falcons rushing attack that totaled a season-high 146 yards on the ground. Started at right guard in both of Atlanta's playoff games.

COLLEGE

Was a Rimington Trophy finalist, earning AllAmerican first-team honors from Pro Football Weekly and the American Football Coaches Association, adding second-team honors from Yahoo! Sports and Sports Illustrated, in addition to being chosen third-team by The NFL Draft Report and Phil Steele in 2011. Earned first-team All-Big Ten Conference accolades from the media and was an honorable mention pick by the league’s coaches as a junior in 2011. Anchored a Wisconsin offensive line that paved the way for one of the most prolific offenses in the country, as the Badgers averaged 469.9 yards per game, including 235.6 yards per game on the ground and 234.3 yards through the air. In 2011, helped RB Monte Ball lead the nation with 1,923 rushing yards and tie RB Barry Sanders NCAA record with 39 rushing touchdowns. Also protected QB RussellWilson, who threw for a school record 3,175 yards. In 2010, was a consensus honorable mention All-Big Ten selection, an Academic All-Big Ten choice and earned ESPN Academic All-District honors. Placed on the watch list for the Rimington Trophy after starting 11 games at center and blocking for Wisconsin’s trio of 1,000-yard rushers, RB James White (1,086), RB John Clay (1,028) and Ball (1,019) in 2010. Was named a first-team freshman All-American by Sporting News and earned Academic All-Big Ten honors as a redshirt freshman in 2009. In 2009, started nine games, paving the way for a Badgers offense that averaged 416.9 yards of total offense per game, including 203.8 rushing yards per game.

PERSONAL

Attended Neenah (Wisc.) High School, playing football for head coach Steve Mentzel. Rated the 30th-best offensive lineman in the nation and the third-best overall player in the state of Wisconsin by Rivals.com. A team captain, he received first-team all-state, all-region and all-conference honors while excelling in the trenches as both an offensive and defensive lineman as a senior. As a junior, was also a first-team all-state choice on offense, adding first-team all-region, first-team all-conference, honorable mention all-conference recognition as a defensive lineman. Earned three varsity letters on the gridiron while also lettering twice in basketball and track and field. A Communication Arts major, twice earned Academic All-Big Ten Conference honors, in addition to being named to the 2010 ESPN Academic AllRegion team. Son of Margaret and Tony Konz (pronounced kahnz).
