Originally selected by the Indianapolis Colts in the fourth round (127th overall) of the 2008 NFL Draft out of Kentucky. Signed by the Denver Broncos as a free agent on March 23, 2012. Signed by the Falcons as a free agent on  March 19, 2015.

2015 (Falcons)

Played in 15 games with eight starts and enjoyed on of the most productive seasons of his career catching 59 passes for a career-high 657 yards and one touchdown. Caught three passes for 19 yards in his Falcons debut against Philadelphia (9/14). Caught four passes for 77 yards, including a career long 41-yard grab, at New York (9/20). Had his best game as a Falcon, catching eight passes for 94 yards against Washington (10/11). Posted his first 100-yard game as a Falcon and the second of his career, catching 10 passes for 103 yards with one touchdown against Tampa Bay (11/1). Caught six passes for 61 yards (10.2 yards per catch),including a 26-yard gain, at San Francisco (11/8). Notched four catches for 61 yards (15.3 yards per catch) against New Orleans (1/3), giving him 657 receiving yard on the season and topping his previous career best of 631 set in 2010.

Spent four seasons in Indianapolis before joining the Denver Broncos in 2012 and the Atlanta Falcons in 2015. Has caught 237 passes for 2,360 yards with 11 touchdowns in 122 career games. Saw action in 15 games, logging 109 yards on 14 receptions with two touchdowns as a member of the Denver Broncos in 2014. Played in all 16 games with one start for the Broncos in 2013. He caught 20 passes for 184 yards with one score while also leading the team with 10 special-teams tackles. Played in all 16 games with eight starts and ranked third on the club in receptions (52) and receiving yards (555) while adding two touchdowns during his first season in Denver in 2012. Totaled 19 receptions for 177 yards with one touchdown in addition to tying for the team lead with eight special-teams tackles during his final season in Indianapolis in 2011. Posted career highs in receptions (67), receiving yards (631), and touchdowns (4) in 2010. Ranked second on the team in receptions and totaled seven-or-more catches in seven of the final 10 games that season. Played in all 16 games for the first time in his career in 2009 and ranked fourth on the club with 13 special-teams tackles in addition to collecting three receptions for 35 yards on offense. Started 37 of 48 career games at the University of Kentucky and totaled 133 receptions, 1,417 yards and 11 touchdowns. His 133 receptions ranked first in school history and second all-time in SEC annals among tight ends.
