Selected by the New York Jets in the fourth round (114th overall) of the 2008 NFL Draft. Traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars on September 3, 2011. Signed by the Atlanta Falcons as a free agent on April 8, 2014.

Career

Has played in 68 career games, including 41 starts while totaling 217 tackles (154 solo) with 10 interceptions, three sacks, and 45 passes defensed. In 2013, he started three games and posted six tackles (four solo) with one fumble recovery before being placed on injured reserve and later released. College

Started 25 games at San Jose State after transferring from Cabrillo College. Finished his career at San Jose State with 13 interceptions for 147 return yards and one touchdown. Also added 315 yards and one touchdown on 24 punt returns. Notched 14 passes defensed, three fumble recoveries, and 92 total tackles (53 solo). Earned First-team AFCA All-America and All-WAC honors as a senior. Started all 12 games at cornerback and collected 44 tackles, seven passes defensed, and four interceptions. Recorded a school-record nine interceptions as a junior, including picks in four straight games. Earned third-team AP All-America honors and first-team All-WAC honors. In two seasons at Cabrillo College saw action mainly at safety and finished with 95 tackles, 13 interceptions, two fumble recoveries, and six passes defensed.

Personal

Attended Soquel High (Calif.) and had 20 INTs in 20 career games. Set county record with seven interceptions in a game vs. Sacred Heart. Also lettered in basketball where he was a three-year starter. Attended Project Hope at Times Square Church in 2008 to greet and support U.S. military members and underprivileged youth. Also helped raise funds for Lupus research by participating in the ALR Long Island Walk With Us to Cure Lupus in 2008. Raised by his mother, Tracy Rivers. His sister, Aujanae, had open-heart surgery as a baby to correct a heart defect, and Lowery grew to be her father-figure. Married to Ashley and has a daughter, Amani.
