Head Coach Dan Quinn provided an injury update as the Falcons begin their offseason workout program

Falcons head coach Dan Quinn provided an update on the return timetable for several players coming off injuries.

Desmond Trufant (pectoral), Julio Jones (foot), Adrian Clayborn (biceps) and Derrick Shelby (Achilles) are all participating in the workout program in a limited fashion and are expected to be ready to go when the team reports for the start of training camp, per Quinn.

“We are very encouraged by the timelines they’re at,” Quinn said on Tuesday. “I do anticipate by the time we get back in July, I think they’ll be ready to go.”

Trufant – who recently signed a five-year extension with Atlanta – suffered a pectoral injury and was placed on IR, missing the remainder of the Falcons’ season.

After dealing with a lingering foot injury for majority of the second half of Atlanta’s 2016 season, Jones underwent foot surgery in early March.

Two of Atlanta’s defensive ends, Clayborn and Shelby, saw limited action last season with injuries keeping them on the sidelines for a significant amount of time.

Shelby saw action in just six games in his first season with the Falcons due to suffering a torn Achilles in early October. Clayborn tore his bicep during Atlanta’s divisional round playoff game versus the Seattle Seahawks, ending his postseason.
