Ryan's 2012 Completion Rate Among Best Ever

Posted Mar 23, 2013

He set franchise records in 2012 in three different passing categories, but did you know Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan's completion percentage is among the best of all-time?

If the first few seasons of Matt Ryan's career was about growing as QB, last season was all about becoming one of the league's elite signal callers.

When 2013 was all said and done, Ryan was among the top five quarterbacks in the NFL in many of the most important QB statistical areas. His 422 completions were tied for third, his 32 touchdowns, 99.1 QB rating and 4,719 yards were all ranked fifth.

Perhaps the most impressive stat of Ryan's season is the one that led the league. His 68.6 percent completion percentage was tops in the league and easily his highest number of his career. His next highest season was in 2010 when he completed 62.5 percent of his passes.

What many may not know about Ryan's 2012 completion percentage is it's ranked 13th all time by NFL QBs with at least 300 pass attempts.

The highest ever was Drew Brees' 71.2 in 2011, but Ryan joins Brees as the only other QB to attempt over 600 passes and complete over 68 percent of them.

Of the other 12 QBs, seven were conference champs and four went to the Super Bowl.
