Falcons Ink Third-Rounder to Contract

The Atlanta Falcons today announced that they have signed running back Tevin Coleman.

Coleman, 5-11, 210 pounds, played in 33 games at Indiana and logged 3,219 yards on 452 carries. He averaged 7.1 yards per carry and 97.5 yards per game while totaling 28 touchdowns. Coleman had a breakout season in 2014, becoming the 18th player in Football Bowl Subdivision history to reach 2,000 rushing yards in a single season. His 2,036 yards last season rank 15th in FBS annals and he is the third player in Big Ten history to accomplish that feat behind Melvin Gordon and Larry Johnson. Coleman averaged 169.7 rushing yards per game and ranked second in the nation with 11 100-yard games.  

The Tinley Park, Illinois native was a consensus All-American and finished seventh in the Heisman Trophy voting. He was a finalist for the Doak Walker Award and a semifinalist for the Maxwell Award in addition to earning first team All-Big Ten honors and serving as a team captain. Coleman set a single-game rushing record a 307 rushing yard performance on 32 carries against Rutgers in 2014. He ranks fifth in school history with 15 100-yard rushing games and set an IU record with five 200-yard games.
