The Atlanta Falcons, Publix Supermarkets, UnitedHealthcare and the Atlanta Community Food Bank (ACFB) hosted the annual FalCan Food Drive School Challenge October 1 through November 8, 2013. 92 schools signed up to participate in the FalCan Food Drive School Challenge and collected 125,116 pounds of canned goods and/or non-perishable items The total amount collected in 2013 doubled last year’s numbers going up an additional 64,452 pounds to establish a new record.

The participating schools are eligible to receive prizes based on the number of pounds they collect:

  • 1,000-2,500 pounds collected: One (1) autographed FalCan Food Drive School Challenge Poster
  • 2,501-4,000 pounds collected: One (1) autographed mini helmet
  • 4,001-6,500 pounds collected: One (1) autographed white panel football
  • 6,501 pounds and above collected: One (1) autographed replica jersey

The top three schools that collected the most pounds of food in the 2013 FalCan Food Drive School Challenge are:

1st Place: Worth County Elementary School - 16,604

In first place, Worth County Elementary School collected 16,604 pounds. The school will receive 60 tickets to the Sunday, December 15 game as well as participate in the Atlanta Falcons Fitness Flag Crew, which consists of spending the day with members of the flag crew beginning with an aerobic warm up led by Atlanta Falcons Cheerleaders, an on-field rehearsal, lunch and culminating with unfurling the giant Atlanta Falcons flag on the field before the game.

2nd Place: Bear Creek Middle School - 11,172

In second place, Bear Creek Middle School collected 11,172 pounds. The school will receive 50 tickets to the Sunday, December 15 game, as well as a special visit with Atlanta Falcons Cheerleaders, Freddie Falcon and snack provided by Publix Supermarkets.

3rd Place: Springfield Elementary School - 3,886

Finally, in third place, Springfield Elementary School collected 3,886 pounds. The school will receive 25 tickets to the Sunday, December 15 game.
