GEORGIA DOME TRAFFIC UPDATE FOR FRIDAY, AUGUST 22


The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) repaving project on I-75/I-85 will continue through this weekend.

DOWNTOWN CONNECTOR PROJECT RESUMES – 9 PM FRI. - 5 AM MON. AUG. 22-25

PERIODIC LANE CLOSURES IN BOTH DIRECTIONS – EXPECT DELAYS

I-75/85 (both directions):

  • Periodic lane closures throughout the weekend between University Ave. and 10th St. to finish striping newly resurfaced lanes
  • 6:30 a.m. – 10 a.m. Sat: 2 right lanes closed between MLK and Freedom Pkwy.

Due to events at the Georgia Dome and Georgia World Congress Center, delays are expected through the weekend. Those attending events are strongly advised to use MARTA. Travelers passing through Atlanta to other destinations are urged to use I-285 and go around the city. For more information, see the attached media release or click here.

LABOR DAY WEEKEND - MAJOR LANE CLOSURES AT THE I-75/85 SOUTHBOUND MERGE (BROOKWOOD INTERCHANGE) – EXPECT EXTREME DELAYS

9 p.m. Fri. Aug. 29 – 5 a.m. Tues. Sept. 2:

  • I-85 southbound will be reduced to two lanes near the I-75 merge
  • I-75 southbound will be reduced to one lane at the I-85 merge

This work will cause EXTREME SOUTHBOUND DELAYS in Midtown and Downtown Atlanta, and on both I-85 and I-75 southbound nearing the work zone. Motorists attending Downtown events are strongly urged to use MARTA. Drivers traveling to areas outside of Atlanta should use I-285 and go around the city.
