Eric Sutulovich comes to the Falcons in his first season as Assistant Special Teams Coach and will work closely with Special Teams Coordinator Keith Armstrong.The Atlanta Falcons hired Eric Sutulovich as the club’s new assistant special teams coach. Sutulovich, a NFL coaching veteran of five years, will work closely with Falcons special teams coordinator Keith Armstrong.
Sutulovich has logged five previous seasons in the NFL including a one-year stint as Offensive Assistant with the Detroit Lions last year. He originally entered the League with the Houston Texans in its inaugural season as the Assistant Special Teams Coach and stayed for four total seasons (2002-05). Over that four-year span, the Texans ranked first in the League in punts downed inside the 20-yard line (120), fourth in opponent punt return yard average (7.4), sixth in the AFC in kickoff touchbacks (30) and seventh in the conference in kickoff return average (22.1).
In-between his time with the Texans and Lions, Sutulovich spent one season as a Football Assistant for the University of Kansas. He also spent time in the collegiate ranks with Fort Scott Community College as the Offensive Coordinator (2001), the University of Pittsburgh as the Offensive Graduate Assistant (2000-01) and Louisiana Tech as the Offensive Graduate Assistant from 1997-99.
Sutulovich’s coaching experience also spans to the Indoor Football League as he spent one season as the offensive coordinator for the Casper Calvary in 2000.
In his time at Pittsburgh, the Panthers finished third in the Big East Conference and competed in the 2000 Insight.com Bowl. The Pittsburgh offense ranked seventh nationally in pass efficiency and 18th in total passing.
In 2000, Sutulovich served as the Assistant Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator for the Indoor Football League’s Casper Calvary.
Sutulovich and his wife, Melissa, have two daughters, Sage (5) and Ellie (3), and one son, Maddax (1).
