The Atlanta Falcons will honor center Jeff Van Note - the team's recent inductee into the Falcons Ring of Honor - at this Sunday's game between the Falcons and Cardinals.
There will be a ceremony on the field at halftime with Van Note and Falcons Owner & CEO Arthur Blank. For credentialed media interested in covering the ceremony, we ask that you meet at Gate E two minutes prior to the conclusion of the first half. At that time, a member of the Falcons Football Communications Staff will escort still cameras, photographers and reporters to the field.
Following the ceremony, Van Note will be available to the media at a designated area stipulated by the Falcons Football Communications Department.
Van Note is the latest inductee into the team's Ring of Honor. He received the most votes from fans through online voting on atlantafalcons.com and through in-stadium voting at Sunday's Falcons-Buccaneers contest.
A panel of football media members narrowed the initial 2006 list of potential candidates to four;
DE Claude Humphrey (1968-74, 76-78), T Mike Kenn (1978-94), RB Gerald Riggs (1982-88), and Van Note. The induction and celebration of the newest member of the Atlanta Falcons Ring of Honor will take place for Van Note at halftime during the Falcons-Cardinals game at the Georgia Dome on October 1.
Van Note joins inaugural members RB William Andrews (1979-83), QB Steve Bartkowski (1975-85), LB Tommy Nobis (1966-76), and LB Jessie Tuggle (1987-00). Van Note played for the Falcons from 1969-1986 and was voted by his peers to six Pro Bowls (1974-75, 1979-82), which tied him for the all-time team lead with Humphrey. Van Note holds team records for most seasons played (18), most consecutive games played (155), and is second all-time for most games played (246) and most games started (225) in Falcons history.
The Atlanta Falcons Ring of Honor pays tribute to retired players who made significant contributions to the Falcons during their playing careers.
The Falcons will play the Arizona Cardinals this Sunday at 1:00 p.m. (EST) in the Georgia Dome.
