The Atlanta Falcons took the first steps in reshaping the roster Friday afternoon, announcing the release of seven veteran players.
The Falcons placed quarterback D.J. Shockley and wide receiver Jamin Elliott on injured reserve Thursday afternoon after the pair suffered season-ending knee injuries in the fourth quarter of a preseason win at Buffalo.
Quarterback D.J. Shockley tore a ligament in his knee Friday night at Buffalo and will miss the rest of the season. “It’s very disappointing, especially when you get in a situation where you feel like you’re doing good and going out doing everything possible to try and help the team,” he said.
