Numbers, Notes and Colors: Bills at Falcons

Here are a few interesting pieces of information to prepare you for Sunday’s game against the AFC East's Buffalo Bills.

• The Falcons will wear their RED jerseys on Dec. 27 against the Buffalo Bills.
• The Falcons forced three turnovers against the Jets, winning the turnover battle and the ball game.  When the Falcons win the turnover battle under Head Coach Mike Smith, their record is 9-1. 
• Tony Gonzalez has 994 receptions for his career, six catches away from the 1,000-catch milestone.
• The Falcons rush defense played big against the Jets, holding them to 99 rushing yards when they averaged 169 yards per game coming into the game. 
• Falcons running back Jerious Norwood and Bills wide receiver Justin Jenkins were teammates at Mississippi State University. 
• Under Smith the Falcons are 5-2 against the AFC.
• The Falcons have not allowed 100 rushing yards to an opposing back since Week 3.
• The offensive line stepped up in New York and didn’t allow the Jets defense to sack Matt Ryan in the Week 15, 10-7 win in The Meadowlands. 
• Brent Grimes leads the team with four interceptions after picking off two Mark Sanchez passes last week against the Jets. 
• Terrell Owens has 998 receptions for his career, two catches away from the 1,000-catch milestone.
• Falcons center Brett Romberg and linebacker Mike Peterson spent time with Bills defensive tackle Marcus Stroud with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
• The Falcons have an all-time home record of 3-1 against the Buffalo Bills. 
• The Falcons average 109.7 rushing yards per game and the Bills allow opponents to rush for 165.6 yards per game.
• Falcons offensive coordinator Mike Mularkey was the head coach of the Bills from 2004-05.
• The Buffalo Bills pass defense is ranked third in the NFL in passing yards allowed with 184.4 passing yards per game. The New York Jets, who we faced last week, are ranked first. 
• Roddy White needs 52 receiving yards to reach 1,000 yards for three consecutive seasons. 
• Bills cornerback Leodis Mcelvin is a native of Waycross, Ga. 
• Falcons safety Thomas DeCoud spent time with Buffalo running back Marshawn Lynch at Cal.
• Before Sunday, the last time the Falcons faced the Jets (Sept. 25, 2005) Chauncey Davis recorded his first career sack and Michael Jenkins caught his first touchdown. The Falcons won 24-16. 
• Ryan made his first start against the Jets since Week 12.  He completed 16 of 34 passes for 152 yards and one touchdown. 
• Under Smith the Falcons are 12-3 in the Georgia Dome.
