FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. – The Atlanta Falcons today acquired cornerback Tye Hill in a trade with the St. Louis Rams in exchange for an undisclosed draft pick.

Hill, 5-10, 185 pounds, enters his fourth season in the NFL after being selected as a first round (15th overall) draft choice by the Rams in 2006. A starter in 21 of 28 career games played, Hill has totaled 94 tackles (79 solo), four interceptions, 15 passes defensed, one fumble recovery and one forced fumble.

As a rookie, Hill started 10 of 16 contests and finished the season with 42 tackles (33 solo), a team-high three interceptions, four passes defensed and one fumble recovery. His three interceptions in 2006 are the most by a Rams rookie since linebacker Pisa Tinosamoa finished with three in 2003. For his performance that season, Hill earned All-Rookie honors from Pro Football Weekly and the Professional Football Writers of America.

Hill entered the 2008 campaign as the starting left cornerback and tied his career-high of six solo tackles on two occasions along with posting his first career forced fumble. After starting the first four contests, he suffered a knee injury in Week 4 against Buffalo, which sidelined the Clemson graduate for the rest of the season.
