JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --  Atlanta Falcons linebacker Mike Peterson hosted several events this month to raise awareness and funding for his charitable organization, the Mike Peterson Foundation.

On Saturday, June 27 Peterson hosted his second annual Mike Peterson Bring It Youth Football Camp at Citizen’s Field in Gainesville. This free camp was open to boys and girls between the ages of 8 and 17, and is a non-contact camp. The coaching staff consisted of active and former NFL players, in addition to area high school coaches.

The Mike Peterson Pins & Pros Celebrity Bowling Tournament was also held at Splitz in Gainesville, Fla. on Friday, June 26. A sports or media celebrity played with each four-person team, with prizes awarded to the top three teams.

To cap the weekend, the Mike Peterson Foundation hosted its third annual Family Fun Day at Skinner Field in Peterson’s hometown of Alachua. This free event was open to all area residents and featured family friendly activities such as face painting, water dunk tank, three-legged races, sack races and numerous more games.

Peterson created the Mike Peterson Foundation as a means of giving back to his hometown of Alachua and his NFL hometowns of Jacksonville and Atlanta.  The Foundation’s mission is to support families in need in the community and to stimulate the positive development of youth through education, recreation and life skills programs.
