FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. -- The Atlanta Falcons hired Eric Sutulovich as the club’s new assistant special teams coach. Sutulovich, a NFL coaching veteran of five years, will work closely with Falcons special teams coordinator Keith Armstrong.
Prior to joining the Falcons, Sutulovich served as an offensive assistant for the Detroit Lions last season. He logged a one-year stint as a football assistant for the University of Kansas, before spending four seasons (2002-05) as the assistant special teams coach for the Houston Texans. Over that four-year span, the Texans ranked first in the League in punts downed inside the 20-yard line (120), fourth in opponent punt return yard average (7.4), sixth in the AFC in kickoff touchbacks (120) and seventh in the conference in kickoff return yard average (22.1).
Along with his 2006 campaign at Kansas, Sutulovich also spent time in the collegiate ranks with Fort Scott Community College as the offensive coordinator (2001), the University of Pittsburgh as the offensive graduate assistant (2000-01) and Louisiana Tech as the offensive graduate assistant from 1997-99.
Sutulovich’s coaching experience also spans to the Indoor Football League as he spent one season as the offensive coordinator for the Casper Calvary in 2000.
