ATLANTA -- The Falcons are preparing for a trip to Arizona for the Wild Card round of the playoffs but opponents for the 2009 regular season were determined after the first round of games on Sunday afternoon.
Atlanta will play the NFC and AFC East next season and take on the No. 2 team in the NFC West and North -- teams that match its finish in the NFC South.
The Falcons will travel to Tampa Bay, Carolina, New Orleans, Dallas and New England next season. The team will also go to New York twice to face the Jets and Giants. The San Francisco 49ers locked up the No. 2 spot in the NFC West last week and will host the Falcons at some point next season (NFC West). The Birds will host division opponents, Washington, Philadelphia, Buffalo and Miami and Chicago (NFC North).
The dates and times for the 2009 regular season will be announced in the Spring. Click here for an explanation of schedule rotations.
