CHARLOTTE, N.C.  -- During Sunday’s Falcons game against the St. Louis Rams, Sakrete®, North America’s original bagged dry cement mix brand, together with the Atlanta Falcons will present a check for $5,000 in John Abraham’s name to HomeAid Atlanta (www.homeaid.org), a leading non-profit provider of housing for the homeless in Atlanta. The presentation will be made during the game.  Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. EST.

This is the third year of the Sakrete Sack™ Program, which was created by Sakrete to raise money to help fight homelessness.  The program tracks the number of quarterback sacks for each participating team.  At the end of the regular season, the player with the most sacks from each team will have $5,000 donated in his name to HomeAid. The overall league sack leader will have an additional $10,000 donated in his name.

Four teams participated this year:  The Carolina Panthers, New York Jets, Buffalo Bills and Atlanta Falcons.

The Carolina Panthers, New York Giants, San Francisco 49ers, San Diego Chargers, Seattle Seahawks and Atlanta Falcons participated in the last two years, and donated over $52,000 to charity.

“We are pleased to continue our relationship with these National Football League teams to help tackle homelessness,” said Johnsie Beck, president of Sakrete of North America, LLC. “Sakrete and the NFL teams share the same values of giving back to the community, and we believe that Sakrete products offer the same level of professionalism as the players. This charitable program allows us to make a positive impact on both the local and national levels because the money goes directly into these teams’ communities.”

“Donations from the Sakrete Sack Program help HomeAid and its chapters serve America’s temporarily homeless families and individuals, including more than one million children, enabling them to get back on their feet,” said Jeffrey Slavin, chief executive officer of HomeAid.  “We greatly appreciate the contributions from Sakrete, along with the program’s NFL teams and individual participants, to support our mission to build dignified housing for the temporarily homeless and strengthen the local communities that benefit from this wonderful charitable program.”

Sakrete was founded in 1936 and is the original bagged dry cement mix brand in North America.  Sakrete of North America is headquartered in Charlotte, N.C. For more information on Sakrete, call 1-800-738-1621 or visit the company’s website at www.sakrete.com.
