FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. – The Atlanta Falcons today placed safety Antoine Harris on injured reserve with a groin injury, signed cornerback Glenn Sharpe from the practice squad to the 53-man active roster and signed offensive guard Nate Bennett to the practice squad.

Harris competed in 12 games this season and was a mainstay on the Falcons special teams unit. He posted two special teams tackles, both of which came against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 8.

Sharpe, 6-0, 185 pounds, was originally signed by Atlanta on April 28, 2008 and following training camp, was signed to the team’s practice squad on August 31 where he has spent every week this season. Sharpe is a graduate of the University of Miami (Florida) and posted his best season in 2006 when he tallied 44 tackles, two interceptions and a team-high 14 passes defensed.

Bennett was originally signed as an undrafted rookie free agent by the Cleveland Browns on May 1, 2008. He was waived following training camp and was signed to the Baltimore Ravens practice squad on October 1, where he spent nine weeks before being waived on December 2. Bennett is a native of Dallas, Georgia and prepped at Paulding County High School. He was a four-year starter on the Clemson University offensive line, seeing action in 47 career games. He helped the Tigers rank sixth in the nation in the fewest sacks allowed in 2006.
