Head Coach Mike Smith

Q: How did everything go today?
A: “Practice was good. We had a nice clear blue sky today. It was nice.”

Q: What is going on with Roddy (White) and his back? Did he have a bruise?
A: “Yes, he has had two days of mental reps and we expect him tomorrow to get some physical reps.”

Q: I am guessing that the decision on (Renardo) Foster has been made?
A: “Yes. Renardo will go into the category with Trey Lewis, the reserve PUP.”

Q: You will be playing an 8-2 Carolina this week coming off of a sub-par performance. Does that make this game dangerous?
A: “I think an 8-2 team is a dangerous team. They have played very well all season long. I believe that they have the second best record in the NFC behind the Giants. It’s a division game. There is added performance every time that you have a division game. There is a familiarity with each other. This is our second time around through the division. They are playing very good football in all three phases. Offensively, they are doing nice things running the ball. They have two weapons at running back, two weapons at wide receiver and a quarterback that I think is distributing it very, very well. Defensively, they are strong up front and big and physical in the secondary. I think they are the third ranked defense in the League.”

Q: It has been well documented what happens when you start fast. Do you think you can make sure you do that this week?
A: “We just have to come out of the tunnel ready to go. We talk to our players all the time about fast starts. For the most part, we have done a nice job this year. When we haven’t, we have not had the outcomes that we have wanted. It is imperative that our guys realize that we need to get it going early.”
