FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. – The Atlanta Falcons today announced that Sunday’s regular season opener against the Detroit Lions at the newly refurbished Georgia Dome has been sold out.

The remaining tickets, which were purchased by WXIA-TV (11Alive), WATL-TV (myAtlTV) and Comcast, will go to The Metro Atlanta Chapter of The American Red Cross and The Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta. The Metro Atlanta Red Cross is distributing game day tickets to evacuees of Hurricane Gustav who remain in Atlanta and to the volunteers who worked in support of the evacuation effort.

“We’d like to thank our friends at WXIA-TV, WATL-TV and Comcast for helping us sell out Sunday’s game,” said Falcons President Rich McKay. “We are always proud to partner with organizations that seek to improve our community in a positive way. Because of their generous support, many deserving people will have the opportunity to see the Falcons make their 2008 regular season debut.”

Sunday’s regular season opener against the Lions will mark the debut of first-year Head Coach Mike Smith and rookie quarterback Matt Ryan. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
