FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. -- The Atlanta Falcons today waived/injured linebacker Robert James.
James, 5-11, 218 pounds, was selected by the Falcons in the fifth round (138th overall) of the 2008 NFL Draft. The Arizona State graduate started 19 of 42 games in his collegiate career and contributed with 174 tackles (102 solo), 5.5 sacks, 20 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, eight passes defensed and five interceptions. He also earned All-America and All-Pac 10 Conference honors during his senior season.
The Falcons will open their 2008 preseason schedule with a road game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Saturday, August 9. Game time is slated for 7:30 p.m.
