FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. -- The Atlanta Falcons today signed free agent offensive lineman Doug Datish and waived kicker Kevin Lovell.
Datish, 6-5, 301 pounds, was selected by the Falcons in the sixth round (198th overall) of the 2007 NFL Draft. The Ohio State graduate spent the entire 2007 campaign on the Falcons injured reserve list after breaking his wrist in the preseason. Atlanta waived Datish on June 23, 2008 and prior to rejoining the Falcons, he spent two weeks on the Indianapolis Colts roster.
Lovell, 5-9, 153 pounds, was signed by the Falcons as a free agent on April 24, 2008 and competed with the team in offseason training activities (OTAs) and training camp. In 2007, Lovell was signed as an undrafted rookie free agent by the St. Louis Rams and was waived by the team prior to the start of training camp.
