FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. – The Atlanta Falcons today signed 2008 NFL Draft seventh round (232nd overall) selection, tight end Keith Zinger to a four-year contract. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Zinger, 6-4, 268 pounds, competed in 54 career games at LSU while recording 15 receptions for 209 yards (13.9 average) and one touchdown. His lone touchdown came on a long reception of 27 yards against the University of Tennessee in the SEC Championship game. The Tigers went on to defeat the Ohio State Buckeyes in the 2008 BCS National Championship game in the season finale.
Zinger is the second draft pick to be signed by the Falcons prior to the team’s training camp. On May 20, 2008, quarterback Matt Ryan, the third overall selection in the draft, signed a six-year contract.
